Al Jazeera English now available on Tata Sky too
New Delhi, April 26 (IANS) intend to provide “high quality international news” to an extensive Indian viewers, Gulf-based Al Jazeera Network Thursday announced that its English network will also be revealed across the country through Tata Sky.
The system, which is accessible in more than 130 countries to more than 260 million households universal, is by now reaching out to Indian audiences through Dish TV and cable.
We are previously reaching to 25 million households across India. India is a huge market. We come from Middle East but we give a global picture. We are as well focusing on Africa and Latin America, which is not covered by others that much,” Diana Hosker, head of distribution at Al Jazeera, said.
There are many new channels as we know and hence tata sky is sure that they can give a different voice to the viewers. As viewer’s wants high class international news, this gives the global picture and not just focused on a particular country or region. Our reporting of the Arab mechanism fixed the attention of the viewers, she added.
The operator in India in 2010 whom got its broadcasting licence, the network will not only be broadcasting its international feed, but also showcase India definite news stories of global significance and interest. They will also showcase documentaries focusing on India-specific subjects.
Regarding on their tie-up with Tata Sky, Hosker said, throughout them they will be clever to make more households.
According to Nicola Bamford, chief content and business development officer at Tata Sky, in spite of so many news channels in India, viewers are all the time looking for international news that is really universal.
According to Mukund Sharma, the associate vice president of Tata Sky has 9 million subscribers in India.
