ANDROID
Android is an operating system which is used in mobile and in a Tablet Computer. Android is linux based system. Android was originally developed by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears, Chris White. Android basically work like PCs work with the help of Microsoft windows as their operating system and Macs with iOS.
Google acquired Android on August 2005, this made Android a complete subsidiary of Google. The introduction of the Android distribution in 2007 was announced with the founding of the Open Handset Alliance, a group of 86 hardware, software and telecommunication companies dedicated to advancing open standards for mobile devices.
Android was founded in PALO ALTO, California, United states in October, 2003 by “ANDY RUBIN” and “RICH MINER” the cofounder of Wildfire Communication. Although the clear past activities of the founders and early employees, Android Inc. operated secretly, helpful only that it was working on software for mobile phones.
Like all other Operating Systems (OS) Android has generations. The First generation of Android was released on 23 September 2008. HTC Dream marked the launch of Android OS. The major features of Android Version 1 were
- Android Market: Where one could download various apps.
- Browsers: Which would zoom and shoe full html pages
- Google maps, gmail, google calenda, google talkr and google contacts all synchronized
- Wifi & Bluetooth support among many features
After the first version an update v1.1 was launched on 9th February 2009. The major functionalities were resolving the bugs, ability to save attachments in message etc.
The next update was named Cupcake and was launched in March 2009. Android Cupcake included various features like virtual keyboard, video recording, copy and paste features in a browsers., uploading videos to youtube and picture to Picasa directly from cell phone. There was also a Bluetooth support A2DP, which is automatic, connected to Bluetooth headset, animated screen,
The next update was named as Android Donut version 1.6 another operating system update for cell phone and tablets, exchange mail support, Bluetooth 2.1 support, live wallpapers, improved google maps.
The latest versions Android operating system is 2.0 and 2.1 was released on December 2009. Changes behavior was functional of hardware, increasing of Google Maps 3.1.2, changes UI with the new browser and support of HTML5, new contacts, flash support for 3, 2 megapixel cameras, digital zoom, and Bluetooth 2.1. Another operating system was Android2.2 launched on May 2010.
There is progress such as supports of Adobe Flash 10.0, and also working speed 2 to 5 times faster, and included V8 JavaScript engine which was used by Google Chrome allowing speeding up picture on browser, application on SD card, WiFi hotspot moveable, and auto inform on Android Market.
Android operating system Version 2.3 was launched on December 2006. This allows the increasing of gaming, effective of copy paste function, redesign of user interface, support of format video VP8 and WebM, effect of new audio, Near Field Communication (NFC), and multi camera support. This 2011, Android was launched their brand new operating system Android 3.0 Honeycomb which has been improved very well.
