After delaying for about a year the DND is here to save the aam janta using the aam mobile. From now on wards you will not get any annoying messages asking you to buy property in Noida or Offering you a job in a call center or an opportunity which will change your life Forever. Now just one sms to the Do Not Disturb Registry of India and you will be free from these pesky sms.
The new regulation which came into effect from the 27 th of September bans any Marketing agency to send unsolicited messages to a number which is registered under the National Do Not Disturb ( NDNC ) registry. Well what if someone manages to send you a message or give you a call??? Well you can complain against them and they will be fined for sending you a message. Sounds cool Doesnt it. But wait for the next part. It is not just limited to that you cannot send messages from online free text messaging sites to your friends who are registered under the National Do No Call Registry. To receive a message from these sites you will have yo ask your friend to un register from The National Do Not Call Registry. So it can be said that this new regulation has its Big Pro of freedom from Unsolicited Messages but it also has a bigger Con of not being able to receive or send messages to numbers registered under the National Do Not call Registry.
Also now you will be able to send just a 100 messages per day from one number. This new regulation is called Per Day Per Sim (PDPS). Also according to the new regulation you will not be able to send text messages from online text messaging sites from 9 p.m IST to 9. am IST which means you can only send messages during the working hours and a couple of hours after the working hours. But one good thing about the new regulation is Subscribers can now choose between the fully or partially blocked categories . Also, they can change their preferences after seven days of registering. Trai also plans to slap a termination charge of five paise per SMS from October 15 on service providers from whose network commercial SMSes originate.
It, however, exempted certain service providers, including dealers of telecom service providers and DTH operators for sending requests for electronic recharge on mobile numbers. The other services exempted are e-ticketing agencies, social networking sites and agencies providing directory services. To activate DND you just have to send a message START DND to 1909 and embrace your freedom.
