Sling media is about to take the term Mobile TV to the next step with its new sling box. Sling Media, the wholly owned subsidiary of Nasdaq listed Echostar Corporation, is now in talks with atleast two DTH operators to bundle its Sling Box with the set up boxes. The two DTH operators being Airtel Digital and Reliance BIG TV. Sling media has launched its range of sling box products in India.
The device is a set top box that can be connected to the TV or a video source like a DVD player, satellite receiver, video camera and other devices. Instead of playing the content on the home TV screen, it can be played on smart phone, laptop or similar device while on the move. So when you are at your home and want to watch tv on your mobile you could just use the sling box and watch TV on your mobile phone.
This way you dont have to pay for any extra charges as you would have paid for your dth pack. Unlike 3g where you have to pay for 3g packs which are very costly and the service is not very good. So you can just recharge your DTh connection online and watch TV on your mobile for free. Online recharge is very easy and quick. You dont have to step out of your house to get your dth connection recharged. You can get it recharged from your house without moving and can watch TV the very next second.
